Following the release of her sophomore album ‘It Was Good Until It Wasn’t.’
Today Kehlani released her highly-anticipated sophomore album It Was Good Until It Wasn’t, featuring names like Tory Lanez, Jhené Aiko, Masego and James Blake. In addition to the studio LP, Kehlani has shared new “Quarantine Style” visuals for the track “Open (Passionate).”
Produced by The Futuristiks, Roget, Los Hendrix and others, the track explores feelings of insecurity and uncertainty that come from being emotionally open. The music video opens onto Kehlani singing in a jacuzzi in front of striking mountainous views, before cruising down a desert highway with no one in sight. “Do I got you way too open to be open?/Is the lens you see me through just way too focused?” she sings. “What if you’re curious and caught up in the moment?/Can you hold me down when I’m across the ocean?”
The second part of the visuals, “Passionate,” shows Kehlani in the driver’s seat of her car, while her passenger smokes out the window. Changing out of her glamorous clothes into a puffy jacket, Kehlani croons in the dark, “I make you crazy when nobody watchin’/I’m out your way and I proceed with caution. Don’t do too much talkin’, just lay down that action/Know you come off bold, but it’s just your passion.” The transition from “Open” to “Passionate” is apparent, with changes in lighting, style and tone.
