3 Of the Best Homemade Face Masks for Glowing, Healthy Looking Skin!

Everything inside the human body is precious, and is protected against the harmful bacteria that surround us everyday by our skin. Just because you cannot see what’s going on inside your body – a sign of redness, dryness, acne, swelling, or bruising (to name a few) is what tells you that something is going wrong inside your body. Everything you put in your body, from sugary foods to greasy ones, is a big factor that determines what your skin will look like. Taking heed to what you put in your body is important, but it is also equally important to take care of the outside as well; as the body comes into contact with pollutants every day. Store bought creams and face masks are great, but there is nothing like putting something on your skin that is natural and edible! A great face mask can make all the difference!

Before putting any face masks on, be sure that your skin is free of any makeup. For the best results, it is recommended that your pores be open, so that the vitamins and nutrients from the mask can really sink into the pores and clean them deeper. The best way to ensure that they are open is to boil a pot of filtered water, and rest your face near the water vapor coming out of the pot once it reaches its boiling point. The heat from the boiling water will be sure to open your pores right up. You can also sit a damp, warm towel on your face to open up the pores as well.

Below are some face masks you can use on your face, recommended to be used twice a week, that will help your skin stay clear, rejuvenate, and look it’s best.

1. Baking Soda, Honey, and Coconut Oil.

  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1 teaspoon of coconut oil

Mix these ingredients together, and apply to the face leaving out your eyes, mouth, and eyebrows. Leave on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing the mask off.

**This mask is great for oily skin types and skin that is trying to get rid of acne. The baking soda is an anti-fungal agent that dries up oil and exfoliates. The honey is a natural antibiotic, which gives the skin the vitamins it needs to stay healthy. Lastly, the coconut oil moisturizes the skin without leaving it oily.

2. Cinnamon, Honey, and Aloe Vera

  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 3 teaspoons of honey
  • 1 inch of a fresh aloe vera plant (the gel part) or 2 teaspoons of aloe vera juice

Mix these ingredients together, and apply to the face leaving out your eyes, mouth, and eyebrows. Leave on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing the mask off.

**This mask is perfect for removing blackheads and for reducing swelling. The cinnamon is a natural anti-microbial agent, the honey is a powerful antibiotic that gives the skin the vitamins it needs to stay clean, and the aloe vera is an anti-inflammatory agent.

3. Turmeric, Greek Yogurt, and Honey

  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric
  • 3 teaspoons of Greek yogurt (full fat, plain)
  • 1 teaspoon of honey

Mix these ingredients together, and apply to the face leaving out your eyes, mouth, and eyebrows. Leave on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing the mask off.

**This mask is perfect for all skin types, and is great for reducing redness and keeping the skin super soft. The turmeric is an anti-inflammatory that evens out your skin tone, the Greek yogurt has acids that disinfect the skin and fats that moisturize, and honey has antibiotics that give the skin the vitamins it needs.
